Today – Writing Prompts Begin!

Today is the first day of February, and is the first day of the Fabulous February, Prompt of the Day fun! I hope you will join in, check out daily, what the prompt of the day is, and write something new, based on the prompt of the day.

I’m excited about this idea, and hope to have lots of people come along and get involved too! Sometimes all it takes is a random prompt and the words can begin to flow! So lets all have a Fabulous February, with the words Flowing Freely, every single day of February.

And on that note, a poem, the first of many for February, I hope, an important poem, that tells you what the first prompt of this project is! So, take a look, read the poem, and go!

The First Prompt for Fabulous February!

Excited by the fun, I jumped the gun –

got mixed up with the days,

now, laughter at my silly ways.

All good now, and I humbly bow …

please settle for the start,

prepare to take part …

This month long task, a bit of an ask

but I’m good and ready

my resolve is steady

For Twenty-Twenty, I’ve Vision aplenty –

let’s have a ball,

with poetry for all!

Switch the creative light on, what do you write on?

A secret, to hush?

No, the first prompt is – RUSH!

So there it is, I’m ready, and I hope your’re ready too, to get your writing happening, creaticely, for every day in February!

Yes, I’ve had a RUSH of ideas, and I hope it brings cheers!

  1. love the 20/2o vision pun. Let the fun begin 🙂 Hey, Carolyn: here’s an idea for a prompt — talk to an article of clothing like I have in my latest post. Choose any article of clothing, and get out what you reallly think about it. To make it more fun, have the article of clothing RESPOND 🙂

    1. Now that’s an interesting idea, John, and I’ve recently heard of an idea where people will use an article of clothing from their past for something creative, putting the results on display.
I’m not very sure on the details, it’s not a group I’m a member of …
But clothes, well, they’re said to ‘maketh the man’ or woman, presumably …

And our clothes, what could be mor personal than that. We choose what to wear when we go out, we’re judged on our choices, whether we like it or not, and whether or not we realise it, or care.

I may end up using this idea, removing one of the current writing prompts from the list … I think once this creative month is over, I’ll put up the entire list on one blog post, and then they will all be there, 29 writing prompts, that have been potentially used by millions, and can be used by milions more!

Haha, a bit of a rush of blood to my head and my ego with that one!
My blog stats have improved though, once I began this Fabulous Friday writing prompt fun, and any improvement in stats is a good thing for a blog, more readers, more fun!

  2. I’m thrilled to report that I’ve written a poem today, using today’s prompt of “Rush” that I’m quite thrilled with, at this early stage. So thrilled, that I’ve copied the brand new poem, and pasted it in my collection I’m putting together, to hopefully first share with initial readers, and then submit for publication. The poem is titile “A Call to Action”, and it’s quite an intelligent and rousing little thing!

  3. I like the prompt, ‘rush’, plenty of possibilities. Here is something I wrote in a rush but in the next week I intend to write at least one more poem using this prompt.

    In a Rush

    Car
    Speeding
    Down the road
    In such a rush,
Meets motor bike running late, head on crush.

    1. Oh, ouch. A sad but true result for far too many usually young men … ‘Rush’ and ‘crush’ a potentially scary pair of rhyming words … Then I remember that cheesecakes can made even if ‘rushed’ using sweet biscuits that are ‘crushed’. And then I can smile again!
