A Christmas Poem

For a little bit of fun, a poem for Christmas.:

Twas the night before Christmas and in the house
A creature was stirring, that cheeky small mouse
The presents were piled up under the tree
With credit available, it feels like they’re free!

But nothing is free, not in our time
Five finger discount’s not real, it’s a crime
And that little mouse, is thieving for sure
Nibbling on goodies bought from the store

It’s a wee little creature, you might call it cute
But the droppings it leaves, they’re not so beaut!
What if Santa got sick, from mouse poo on his bickies
And all of his reindeer got crook, went on sickies?

A terrible Christmas, caused by a mouse,
Pooping on food it stole from my house!
My very best Chrismas would be rodent free,
With no little surprises from mousie, for me!

I hoped you liked my poem, I have much experience of unwanted rodents inside the house, more in the past, but still one in the house every now and then …

  1. Thank you, I love it, and I’m glad I’ve shared it on my blog. I remember that mouse plague I mentioned, it was terrible. It came after heavy rains ruined the cereal crops one season, and the grain wasn’t harvested, but left in the paddocks for the mice to feast on, and then go on with breeding in plague proportions.
This happened quite soon after we moved out to the country, from memory, and it was not my favourite time of living in the country … We had up to fifty mice in our swimming pool at one stage, that had to be removed from the pool every day so they didn’t clog up and wreck the pool filter.
    Not a fun time …

  2. Thank you David! Sometimes it can be difficult to know if we’ve written a ‘good one’, but this one felt good when I was writing it, and members of my writing group all liked it, so I decided to do the Christmas thing, and share a poem with others to read and find enjoyment in!
